Run Run Run!
This weekend Tristan and I had a little time to kill while waiting on a friend so we went up to a little park to run off some steam. The weather cooperated nicely (it was about 70 at 10am!) and the park was completely empty when we arrived.

From the minute he saw the playground he was screaming to go! Park! Go!

This year he can finally be somewhat trusted not to injure himself on the smaller slides. Thank GOD. I felt like a big dork going down them all last year with all the little kids. However, it is insanely hard to take a picture ON the slide. Top of the slide: yes. Bottom of the slide: yes. ON the slide: not so much.

This playground has a large clock, which he returned to over and over.

Ok, these two are just cute. Doesn't he look like quite the little dude in the last one?

Dinosaur Mania

Tristan is in love with Dinosaurs. Madly madly in love. Last weekend was beautiful weather, so we made a point of doing some things we didn't usually do. On Saturday we visited the Black Hills Institute of Geological Research in Hill City. Sure you've heard of Sue, well the BHI are the people who dug her out, though they no longer have possession.

At BHI there is a largish room full of skeletons and fossils. Several of them are large dinosaurs, including Triceratops, T-Rex, and tons of smaller dinosaurs.

Tristan was in HEAVEN. He stopped in the doorway and hollared "DINOSAURS! Whoa! Whoa! Dinosaur-REX!" to the great amusement of the tour guide and other adults in the room. It's all one big room, and we let Tristan just wander around and be excited. Attached to the museum is a store called Everything Prehistoric, where we dutifully purchased a small collection of dinosaurs for his amusement. This is a great little gift shop. There are very few people in my life who I couldn't find a gift for here.

On Sunday we took Tristan to Dinosaur Park. Dinosaur Park was built in the 1930s as part of a WPA project. It consists of 7 very large concrete dinosaurs. The Apatosaurus (you probably call it a Brontosaurus) can be seen from all over Rapid City, as it stands in a little clearing at the point of the ridge. We had previously driven up to the park, but weather always prevented us from leaving the car.

Tristan seriously COULD NOT BELIEVE his good luck. All these dinosaurs, waiting to be explored!

New Curtains!
We're doing a little decorating around here, so if things look different to you it's intentional! If somethings not working for you let us know, ok?
