Little Fireman

How's that for the world's cutest fireman??

Yesterday was the NICU's annual Halloween party so we dressed Tristan all up and off we went! He had a couple bites of cotton candy and "won" a couple little prizes. It was a lot of fun, and a nice indication of things to come. I took quite few pictures of him in his costume and some of them are really good. He was by far the cutest baby there.

We tried to stuff him into a pumpkin, but his big meaty thighs got in the way.

For as big as he's getting, he's still a little baby. Doesn't that bed look HUGE? We just got the new headboard/footboard and it's a good 8 inches taller than the old bed. Plus, Tristan rolls around a lot now, so we have to be extra careful. He can scoot himself all the way across the room now by rolling onto his side, and then back to his back. He hasn't figured out how much quicker it would be if he'd just do the full roll. He CAN, he just chooses not to.

Lots of pictures at www.harsma.net!

Monkey Update

This has been a long couple of weeks. The whole family has been sick and crabby and not in the mood for pictures and website updates. I think we're all getting healthy again now though!

Tristan finally learned to roll from back to front! Now we really have to be careful with him on our bed. We bought a new bed and it's about 8 inches taller than the old one, plus he can roll! He also learned to stand with support- doesn't he look like a BIG KID in this picture? I got a picture of baby teeth this week, but it's kinda blurry and the baby is pretty sticky. Still, a picture is a picture! We spent a lot of time with the family last weekend, and lots of pictures were taken, but none by me. If someone emails me some, I'll happily post them too. Gina sent me a few pictures from our trip to Alabama in July, I'll try to post them this week too. For now, the rest of the pictures are up at www.harsma.net.

Update!

I seemed to have missed a week, sorry!

Tristan had his first pickle this week, and he LOVED it. He would have happily chewed for hours but it was slippery and I didn't think he needed it back after it hit the restaurant floor. Sorry about the picture quality, this was taken with a camera phone.

In the last two weeks both of his bottom teeth have broken through, and he spends a good deal of time rubbing them with his tongue. He bits HARD now, and likes to gnaw at the sides. His menu has vastly increased too, here's a quick rundown:

Rice cereal- yummy
Oatmeal- really yummy
sweet potatoes- he'll eat 'em
pears- eh
applesauce- just ok
carrots- OH MY GOD so good
peas- yummy
plums- THE FOOD OF THE GODS
peaches- eh
bananas- ew ick gross (but loved them at daycare, how does that work?)
pickles- Gimme gimme gimme

He'll try to drink from a cup (a real cup, like say MINE) for as long as you'll let him. He hold balls in both hands, he sits unassisted. He still does not roll over back to front. He really really wants to pet a kitty (the kitties aren't so into this idea.) He recognizes his own name and knows our voices over the phone.

There are a few more pictures at the website, nothing to wonderful this week though.

Six Months!
Tristan is Six Months old this week! He's getting so big and active. He had his 6 month check up on Friday and he weighs 17lbs 3 oz. He's in the 55% for both height and weight, and the 80% for head size! She proclaimed him healthy and said that his constant congestion was probably just because of the dryness of the air, not allergies to the animals or a cold. Whew. I'd have hated to give him away if he'd been allergic to the cats.

I posted quite a few new pictures this week. There one of his new "I'm not happy!" face. He scrunches it all up and fake cries when he's done playing in the circle or tired of eating carrots. There's a great one of him playing with his dad, and one of him reading in bed. Someone should tell him he shouldn't wear shoes in bed! There's lots of good ones this week, so go check 'em out. This week is also our wedding anniversary, so there is a picture of us on there too. Who do you think Tristan looks like?
