Tristan had his 15 month checkup yesterday, so I figure it's time for a report. He weighs 23lbs 10oz (40th%) and is 32 inches tall (70%). His massive head is still 97th%. She proclaimed him very healthy. He had his last set of shots until he turns 4.
He's talking up a storm and has a good number of words- mamma, dad, Scout, dog, kitty, fish, woof, ball, uh oh, thank you, please, yeah, uh uh (does that count as a word? he uses it appropriately for No), perhaps more that I can't remember. He's very expressive with the grunting too, can clearly indicate what he wants you to do at times.
He's walking pretty well, trying to run, climbing on anything that holds still. He can get onto the couch and chair now, and freaked us out one evening by throwing the couch pillows onto the floor and then diving into them. He's obsessed the the steps on the back deck (only two of them) and goes up and down and up and down and worries us.
He loves the wagon, and specifically being pulled through the sprinkler in the wagon. If we aren't up for the wagon he'll get in it, lean waaaaay over to pull up the tongue, and then yell for one of us. He loves being outdoors, for any reason. Inside, he still loves to look at books and his big house toy, but his new favorite are the blocks. We have a set of ABC blocks with Sesame Street on them. About 1/2 the blocks have a character's face on them. He will sit and sort those for the longest time, and then bring the to you to show them off. He is drawn to Elmo (what *is* it about Elmo? Why do kids love him so much? we have stuffed elmo and a stuffed Grover, and he ALWAYS goes for Elmo.)
He is finally sleeping in his own bed at night. No real urging from us at all. Since then he's spent part of one night, a couple of mornings (after 5 am) and last night in bed with us. Last night he went to sleep in his bed, but woke about 10 and wouldn't settle. He just wanted cuddled and I think his legs were bothering him (from his shots). So he slept with us. He was very still all night, and cuddly.
He eats pretty well. His favorite foods right now are black olives (still), hot dogs, sausage, plums, beans of any type (still) and ice cream. He doesn't want anything cut up for him, he wants the whole piece. He took a big bit of a crayon the other day and I said, "oh no! ICKY!" and he looked me straight in the eye and said "Mmmmmmmm".
He's just a blast. You can see the wheels turn and watch him make connections. I can't stand to be away from him when I'm away. He has crabby, needy times, and I threaten to give him to the neighbors. But I never would.
Lots more pictures at www.harsma.net including a short video in the July folder. (video taken with my digital camera, so not the best quality, but still cute.) |
